The short version
House Homie stores your household's records — equipment, maintenance history, checklists, tax items, yard plans and assistant conversations — so you can see and use them in the app. Your documents and photos stay in a Google Drive folder you choose; House Homie links to them rather than copying them. Each household's records are visible only to its members.
What we store
- Your account: email address, display name, and your household memberships and roles.
- Household invites you send (the invitee's email and role).
- Your household's records: equipment details, history entries, checklist tasks and completions, tax items, yard plans, and conversations with the assistant.
- Pointers to your Drive files: the IDs of the folder you chose and of documents linked to records — not the files' contents.
- An encrypted Google access token for the Drive files you chose, and your encrypted email app password.
- Which email account and label you connected (not the emails themselves).
- Usage counters and activity logs (for example, "household created").
What we don't store
We don't keep copies of your documents, photos, or email contents. Those stay in your Google Drive and email account.
Google data
House Homie asks Google for your basic profile (name, email) and access to only the specific Drive files you choose or that it creates — it cannot see the rest of your Drive, and it never edits your files. It only adds a file when you ask it to save an email attachment.
If you connect email, you create an app password in your email account (Gmail, iCloud or Yahoo) and give it to Home Manager. It's stored encrypted and used only to read the one label or folder you choose. House Homie never sends, deletes or changes email and doesn't store email contents — it shows them to your household when you open the Inbox. Disconnect at any time, and delete the app password in your email account to revoke it completely.
Our use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Google user data is not used to train AI models.
AI features
When you use features like Ask, the relevant files or text are sent to Anthropic's Claude API only to answer your request. Anthropic does not use this data to train its models. Searches for local services use only your ZIP code, never your street address. When you scan an appliance label, the photo is sent once to read the details and is not stored by House Homie.
Email reminders
Reminders are off until you turn them on in Settings. When they're on, we send a short email to your account address with chores and deadlines from your household's records, delivered through our email provider (Resend). Every email has a link to change or turn off reminders.
Sharing
We don't sell your data or share it with advertisers. Members of your household can see the household's records. Service providers that run the app (hosting, database, email delivery, AI) process data only to provide it.
Your choices
- Disconnect Google Drive in Settings at any time; we revoke our access with Google.
- Deleting your household removes its records and tokens from House Homie. Your Drive files and emails are left untouched.
- You can also revoke access from your Google Account's security settings.
- Turn email reminders on or off any time in Settings.
